Bruce G. Blakley retired June, 2005 after a career with the CPA firm of PricewaterhouseCoopers
in San Diego, California, the last 23 years as a partner. He has been on the board of the San
Diego Foundation for ten years and held positions as Chair of the Finance Committee, Audit
Committee, Organizational Success Working Group, and serves on the Executive, Compensation, Governance
and a number of other committees.
Bruce was born and raised in New Jersey and graduated from Bowling Green State University in 1967.
He then served four years as a U.S. Navy junior officer, serving as assistant supply officer on the hospital
ship USS Repose during the Vietnam conflict, then as a staff officer in San Diego. Following his
military service, he worked for U.S. Financial in San Diego for 2 years. In 1973 he joined the
San Diego office of Coopers & Lybrand. In 1982 he was admitted to the partnership, and the
Firm then merged in 1998 to become PricewaterhouseCoopers. Bruce was the managing partner of the San
Diego office of Coopers & Lybrand at the time of the merger. His career as an audit partner
with the Firm involved him with a variety of businesses in San Diego, including manufacturing,
distribution, retail, and service businesses. During this period he assisted with numerous public
offerings of securities and mergers and acquisitions. He made numerous presentations on subjects
related to accounting matters, business strategies and current business developments throughout his career,
and was extensively involved in campus recruiting activities.
Bruce’s involvement in community affairs has been extensive, including service as a board member
and chair of the Mission Valley YMCA, and board member of the San Diego Venture Group, the Japan
Society of San Diego and Tijuana, the Point Loma Foundation, and Lead San Diego. He is a
1988 graduate of the Lead San Diego program.
Bruce and his wife Linda live in San Diego and have two daughters, Meredith and Lauren, and one granddaughter.
