Robert D. Buell, partner, Luce, Forward, Hamilton & Scripps LLP, honored as Director of the Year for Corporate Citizenship.

Buell, a partner at the firm since 1992, has been a driving force at Luce Forward in influencing the corporate culture and employees who support the community in a variety of significant ways. He works to foster an awareness of community responsibility using his personal resources as well as those of the firm.

He has served on the board of the YMCA of San Diego County for 8 years, and is starting an unprecedented 4th year of service as chairman. The YMCA is recognized as the largest social service organization in San Diego County and the second largest YMCA in the United States. Bob's outstanding contribution to the YMCA and the non profit sector in general in the area of corporate governance has raised the bar for all non profit organizations.

Buell, whose practice focuses on real estate and construction transactions, served as managing partner at Luce Forward from 1998 – 2004. He has also served on the firm’s Executive Committee, as well as co-chair of Luce Forward’s highly regarded Real Estate Practice Group.

He is also past member of the board of the San Diego Regional Economic Development Corporation. He has also served as Special Counsel of the Presbytery of San Diego, president of the Torrey Pines High School Foundation, Inc., member of the Board of Directors and oustide counsel for Crime Victims Fund, and member of the Board of Trustees of the San Diego Museum of Man.
