Some key findings for the 2007 report include:
- The percentage of San Diego companies studied which have
an independent director serving as chairman has increased from
27 percent in our 2006 study to 41 percent in this year's study.
- At over one-third of the San Diego companies included in
the study, the CEO has been in that position for less than three
years.
- A higher percentage of San Diego companies studied have
a classified board when compared to the percentage of companies
with classified boards among large U.S. companies. Similarly,
a higher percentage of San Diego companies studied have a poison
pill in place, when compared to large U.S. companies.
- Nearly half of the San Diego companies studied have at least
one woman serving on the board.
